I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. My first love is drawing. I began drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil, and drew all the time. I love working in most any medium, as long as I am creating. I have worked in acrylics, pastels, watercolor, mosaic, photography, and most recently creating jewelry.
I love graphic design because I love solving the issues that come with it. I love watching the evolution and formation of ideas. I have experience in just about every area of advertising, from account management to copy writing and most of all, graphic design.
I graduated from FSU with a degree in Art with emphasis in Visual Communications. My first job was technical illustration for military maintenance manuals where we did everything by hand, pasted it up on a board and then used a stat camera to shoot it all. I then took a job as a designer for a Scuba magazine where I obtained most of my experience. Not just in design, but scheduling, photography, etc…
In 1995 I entered the advertising world and have been there ever since. Advertising brings with it a great variety of work from logos and posters to ads, t-shirts, billboards, brochures and now banner ads and web sites. I am also responsible for the annual Visitor Guide, which is a 76-page booklet on the Pensacola area. I love this project because it brings back my days at the magazine.
During the summer of 2012, I had the opportunity to teach a graphic design course as an adjunct professor at Pensacola State College and that fall I undertook the design of a 132-page book for the Pensacola Wahoos, our local baseball team. You can see the design in my portfolio.
My latest accomplishment was the design and management of 39 Eco signs for placement on Pensacola Beach. This was an enormous undertaking as far as locating photos, managing copy, editing and proofing and race-to-the-finish designs. This was a project close to my heart because I love nature, our local wildlife and the wonderful beaches we have. You can view the designs of the signs and web site in my portfolio.
